Modiin is a city in Israel, known as “Israel’s city of the future”, located 30km (20 miles) from Tel-Aviv and 30km (20 miles) from Jerusalem.

Modiin is a young city, establish in 1996 with population of 80,000 residences, planned to reach 250,000 residences and to become one of Israel's largest cities.

Modiin’s population is young and the economic status of the residence is high compared to other cities in Israel.

The city’s official name is Modiin-Macabim-Reut and it represents the city Modiin and 2 small settlements (Macabim and Reut) which were “swelled” by their bigger neighbor – Modiin in a merge into one municipality.

New train railway connects Modiin to Tel-Aviv.

Modiin’s neighborhoods:

 

Buchman:

The famoust neighborhood in Modiin is Buchman. It is the southeast neighborhood in the city and unlike other neighborhoods here you can mostly find privet houses (in all other neighborhoods it’s mostly apartments). Real estate prices in Buchman are much higher then those in the other areas of the city. Buchman divided into sub- neighborhoods: Buchman North and Buchman South.

In Buchman North most of the houses were already built and populated and the street names are taken from the bible Israel 12 tribes.

Buchman South area is mostly under contraction and population started around January 2007. The streets names in Buchman south are taken from the bible Israel 4 mothers’ names and female hero’s. Buchman South is known as a religious are.

 

Shimshony:

Located in the North-south area of Modiin, Simshoni is also divided into two sub- neighborhoods: “Shimshony military” and “Shimshony prophets”.

On the “Shimshony military” area the streets names represents Israel’s army general’s names and military battles names.

On the “Shimshony prophets” area the streets manes represents prophets names taken form the bible.

 

Kaizer:

Located in the east side on Modiin, construction in this neighborhood is almost completed and most of the houses and apartments are already populated (new neighborhood).

The streets names are taken from “Cohen Gadol stones” names.

 

Zipor:

Located in the northern part of Modiin. Most of the neighborhood area is under construction and the northern part just starting to be built in these days and will be finished at the end of 2009. Zipor area is not so attractive because it’s closure to 443 road which connects Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv.

Streets names are taken from the Hebrew calendar months.

 

Meromi:

Also known as “the flowers area” because the streets names are taken from flowers and trees names. Meromi is the oldest (10 years old) neighborhood in Modiin and it’s located by the city center.

 

Spadia:

Like Meromi, Spadia is also old neighborhood located in the city center. It’s big neighborhood which divided into three sub areas: Hill C, Malibu and City Center.

 

Macabim-Reut:

Located on the east side of Modiin, Macabim and Reut were small settlements which were “swelled” by their bigger neighbor – Modiin in a merge into one municipality. In those areas there are only privet houses.
